Miss Barbara
Barbara Jean is a West Allis native who began her dance training at age six with the renowned New York dance educator and choreographer Carol Lane. She continued her dance education with Beverly Maye Burmack of Wauwatosa throughout her teen years. Miss Barbara studied Ballet (pointe), tap, jazz, ballroom, baton, and tumbling. She rose quickly through the ranks of Miss Beverly's studio and became a professional dancer at the age of 14. As part of the "Beverly Maye Dancers" she performed all over the Midwest. Ballet and pointe was Miss Barbara's specialty, but she became well-known for mastery of the very difficult genre of toe-tapping. At the Beverly Maye Dance Studio Miss Barbara took class with many famous traveling teachers such as Jimmy Payne (tap) and the famous ballroom team of Dotty and Owen Duré. During these years Miss Barbara attended many professional conventions with esteemed organizations such as the Chicago National Association of Dance Masters (CNADM), and the Dance Masters of Wisconsin (DMW).
Miss Barbara is a past vice president of the National Association of Dance and Affiliated Artists (NADAA), and is a life member of both CNADM and DMW. Miss Barbara has been an active member as "Friend" of the Milwaukee Ballet Company. Through these and other national organizations Miss Barbara has attended conventions and studied with some of the most renowned dance educators of today. This list includes but is not limited to: Bill DeRicco (New York), Gus Giordano (Chicago), Terrell Paulk (South Carolina), Jo Rowan (Texas), Randy Coleman (Tennessee), The Nicholas Brothers (Hollywood), Greg Begley (Hubbard Street Dance Company - Chicago), Bruce Stegman (Chicago), Joe Tremaine (California), Debbie Dee (Texas), Tom Ralabate (New York), Brenda Buffalino (New York), Karen Hebert (Texas), and too many more to mention. She has also volunteered her time and studio to teach special needs children. Miss Barbara taught at the Cecchetti Council of Ballet in Jamaica. She was also proud to take part in two missions and teach dance in orphanages in both Haiti and Jamaica. Miss Barbara has also shared her dance knowledge in both Grand Cayman and Ireland.
Miss Barbara is proud to have founded Arabesque and continues her diligence in striving to provide the highest quality dance education for her students who come from all over Southeastern Wisconsin. |

Miss Georgia
Georgia Berndsen is also an alumnus of Arabesque. After taking dance lessons as a child she decided to further her dance education as an adult at several local dance studios. At Arabesque Miss Georgia not only danced in the annual recital every year, but acted as Stage Manager for many shows. Over the past fifteen years Miss Georgia has furthered her dance education through conventions and workshops at NADAA (The National Association of Dance and Affiliated Artists), CNADM (Chicago National Academy of Dance Masters), and DMW (Dance Masters of Wisconsin). The favorite part of Miss Georgia's day is when she gets to come to Arabesque and work with her special dancers. In her daytime hours she is employed by AT&T and is Manager of the Operator Services Database. Miss Georgia studied Martial Arts for many years and holds a black belt in Kickboxing. At home Miss Georgia enjoys spending time with her two grown sons, Tyler and Michael, and playing with her cats, Tito and Tessa. In her limited leisure time Miss Georgia enjoys making jewelry and working out. |

Miss Alex
Alexandra Hodgins danced with many dance studios and performance companies, including being a member of the dance team for the Milwaukee Wave, before arriving at Arabesque Dance Studio. During her 4 years at Lakeland College in Sheboygan, Miss Alex developed and coached a dance team; all while being the captain, and performing for sporting events and pep rallies. After college, Miss Alex furthered her teaching experience at a dance studio in Sheboygan teaching hip hop and contemporary to advanced students in the performance company. Miss Alex also coached the dance team at Sheboygan Lutheran High School.
Miss Alex holds a bachelors degree in Bio-chemistry and a Master’s degree in Business Administration. During the day, she works in the commercial Banking department at Harris NA, and is always happy at the end of the day when she gets to come teach her students at Arabesque.
In her free time, Miss Alex likes to spend time with her husband Patrick and her dog Bella, and can’t wait until she meets her first child in December. You can usually find Miss Alex spending her down-time watching reality TV, reading, or choreographing new dances. |

Miss Linnea
Miss Linnea is an alumnus of Arabesque Dance Studio. She danced at Arabesque from the age of 5 until she was 15, and furthered her dance education at another studio until she was 18. She has been furthering her dance education at Arabesque for the past 7 years as well. Miss Linnea has trained in Jazz, Ballet, Pointe, and tap, and took advanced tap classes with Miss Barbara. She was a member of various cheerleading squads throughout high school where she helped choreograph many routines, and she was the captain of the color guard where she did more of the same. In college, Miss Linnea was also a member of the UW-Oshkosh dance team.
During the day Miss Linnea works as a surgical assistant, with an emphasis in open heart sugery, at Waukesha Memorial. She lives in New Berlin with her daughter, Mya, who is also a dancer at Arabesque. In her free time she enjoys time with close friends and family, playing the piano, reading, listening to ALL types of music, concerts and cooking. |

Miss Amanda
Miss Amanda is an alumnus of Arabesque Dance Studio. She started at Arabesque at the age of three and is still taking lessons to further her dance education. Through her years at Arabesque she was trained in Ballet, Pointe, Tap, and Jazz, and took lessons in the advanced tap class. Also, she was a four year member of the Menomonee Falls Varsity Dance Team and earned the rank of captain her senior year. Miss Amanda has been a dance coach for several youth and middle school teams, working with girls from the ages of three through 8th grade. Recently she has studied under Amy Brinkman-Sustache, a studio director with Danceworks, at Marquette University. Throughout the years Miss Amanda has had many amazing dance opportunities, such as performing in Chicago with Arabesque, Minneapolis with UPA (United Performing Association), and in Paris, France with UDA (United Dance Association)
Miss Amanda is currently attending Marquette University for her Masters in Accounting. She lives at home with her mother (Terrie), father (Tom), and dog (LouLou). She also has an older brother (Brad). When she is not dancing Miss Amanda likes to read, swim, and play the piano. |
